Actually really cool! The concept of avoiding enemies that continually grow like you do in Snake...
My only criticism is that the portals should be coded by color instead of by number; it's hard to read numbers while fleeing from snakes that are as fast as you are.
Windows/Microsoft defender won't let me run this game. It said:
[<h1>Windows protected your PC</h1>Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognised app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk. <u>More info</u><br><button>Don't run</button>] (pretend the text in the square brackets was a window in HTML code)
No, I'm sure you're far smarter than I am, but still, you have no idea how much you've helped me. I've been able to make some really good games thanks to you. And again, don't worry about the level of difficulty. You're just making it more challenging for yourself.
AI: This is a difficult question to answer. Some people might say yes, because it shows that the AI is becoming more advanced and could one day surpass humans. Others might say no, because the AI is still not as intelligent as humans and does not have all of the same capabilities.
Nice little game! I had some ideas to improve the scoring:
Link the scoring to the difficulty, so harder difficulties the score grows more quickly.
When you 'win' a game (when all the snakes destroy themselves), the player receives a bonus say 3,000, 5,000 or 10,000, depending on difficulty.
Also, I had an idea for a different game mode: The game starts with a single AI snake and a piece of food spawned in a random position. Before the snake gets the food, the player must select the position that the next piece of food will spawn at with the mouse. When the snake gets the current piece of food, a new piece is spawned at that position. If the player fails to select a position before the snake gets the current piece, they loose. The player wins by trapping the snake so it collides with itself. This might also work with multiple snakes.
You could even have menu that lets you choose to 'Be the snake!', 'Be the food!' or 'Be the feeder!' 😂
I'm not able to try it on Windows. It loads in Windows under Wine. But it seems I don't have a high enough screen resolution to view the whole window on my laptop. My max resolution is 1366x768. I don't know if this would be an issue on Windows or not.
I am on a 4k monitor and this game automatically resizes the game to 1920x1080, which is annoying since it doesn't fully fit my screen and puts the game in the top left corner, but it is an issue of the renderer itself not wine
Install Wine and lib32-openal. That got it to load for me. But the game takes up a larger area than my screen resolution on my laptop - 1366x768. There should be a way to fix this without having to get a screen that supports a higher resolution. And if anyone is using the Steamdeck, they'll definitely have problems with it too.
I love this game. I love that you can hop on, hop off, nothing to get frustrated about, and a fun goal. The only thing I don't like is the snake's reaction time, if I make sense. I'm excited for a revisit of this, maybe a leaderboard or something. That would be awesome! Very good game.
Honestly really well done, I came from your youtube video and had to try the game, and even though it was an experiment it leads to very addicting gameplay as well as the ability to add more features should you choose. I really liked the menu and it was mostly intuitive.
Only two complaints, one the sound when you move gets annoying but I still enjoy the other sounds. And two I expected to be able to move with the arrow keys and died due to it.
Even if you never touch this again this is a good game that can stand on its own without getting frustrating and focusing well on its core premise. Props!
Thanks a lot! Yeah, I definitely will revisit this idea in the future because the game is fundamentally flawed in its current state. Still a fun experiment and I'm glad others can enjoy it!
Put this on mobile, CodeNoodles. iOS or Android, doesn’t matter, since I have an iPad and a Samsung smart flip phone, but Google Play or Galaxy Store is preferred on Android. My phone isn’t allowed to install apk files outside of Google Play, Galaxy Store or the Galaxy Store version of the Epic Games app.
go to Settings, scroll down to Security, and select Unknown sources. Selecting this option will allow you to install apps outside of the Google Play store.
I'm really intrigued by the content on here as well as your YT channel. If it is not too presumptuous of me, I was wondering if you could let me know what libraries were used to make this. I'm asking because I have some projects that have similar requirements and need low level memory access without the bloat of fully fledged game engines.
Thank you and best wishes to your growth both as a YouTuber and developer!
Thanks for asking! Simce I wrrite most of my code in C++ I use Sfml to handle graphics and audio etc. If your wondering about the UI that is from a custom library I have made called Glass. If you look it up you won't find anything on the internet about it because I haven't released it yet. I plan to do a video about it in the future. Thanks so much for the support and I wish you luck on your development!

I watched your amazing video on YouTube and got extremely inspired and amazed by your results and skills!!
I was wondering if I could take this idea and build upon it (probably in unity or another game engine?) It will be a non profit project and any details/issues you have please contact me!
Credit will of course be given where credit is due!
Please let me know if you would like to discuss this further or if you would prefer me not to take up this project!
Now i'm honored! This idea is free to take and if you don't want to credit me don't worry i'm sure others have come up with this idea aswell. Go ahead and I wish you luck on your project!
Hello CodeNoodles, you said I won a prize and I replied to it just as you told me which redirected me to YouTube. Am I doing something wrong because nothing happened? The video that I am talking about is down below. Also, what game would you suggest that I play now that I created my account and what project are you referring to?
Yeah I know, there were signs that made the scam seem suspicious since you never mentioned any prize. Is YouTube even going to care about it because I heard that it doesn't. Thank you for the game recommendation.
If there is any way to lower the resolution to 1600x900, or atleast take the game out of full screen, that'd be greatly appreciated. It looks like so much fun, but I simply just can't play it due to my old monitor
This is a really cool idea, alas I cannot play it because I have an AZERTY keyboard and it doesn't allow key remapping or anything in the likes. But still a cool idea nonetheless!
Yeah, sorry about that. It isn't perfect just an experiment. I am not a professional by any means but will work on problems like that. Thanks for the support!

Could you open-source the project? I don't see it anywhere in your github and was wondering why it isn't open-sourced
Pretty great, bro. You make games better than me, and that's not just to praise you. (It's a straight fact)
I copied your comment to an AI and it said this:

Now should I be freaked out the AI acts more human than humans? 😳

Hello CodeNoodles!

The video that I am talking about is down below. Also, what game would you suggest that I play now that I created my account and what project are you referring to?
It's a scam don't go to any website that comment provides. If you want a decent game to play I would recommend my game Shoot that Bird on my page.
Yeah I know, there were signs that made the scam seem suspicious since you never mentioned any prize. Is YouTube even going to care about it because I heard that it doesn't. Thank you for the game recommendation.

Hey, I just fixed this bug so if you redownload it, it should now work. If it doesn't let me know. Thanks!
Those of us on laptops with 1366x768 would love to play too!
I really like the idea of you being the food!
By the way, I'm pretty sure all of the snakes died, and I didn't get a "YOU WIN!" or anything. That might be a bug.
Good job tho!
Yeah, there are lots of bugs. I'm glad you liked it but think of it as a demo.
nice game!
the game's window is so big it goes off the screen. How do I fix it? can't it run in windowed mode?
Try pressing F11. Sorry for the inconvenience.
That did help a little, but even after pressing F11, the far right part of the grid, the far left part of the grid, and the hud are still cut off
Hmm... the game isn't perfect, but I will look into that. Sorry it's not working correctly.
This might be a good workaround for me. Let me try.
Well what do you know! That helped me! Now I'm able to play at 1366x768.
linux version?
Not now unfortunately.
mac version?
Just got it working with wine! All it was missing was OpenAL (something sound related I think)
anyways sudo pacman -S lib32-openal installs openAL on Arch, haven't tested on other distros though
Oh, thanks!, and I already use Arch Linux, so this is perfect!
